Report: Cherrybomb Screening at Azkatraz
This afternoon, Cherrybomb was screened at Azkatraz in San Francisco, CA in what we believe may have been its US debut!
Sam and Maria had the opportunity to attend and gave us the following details and mini review about the film:
The film was in a very small theater seating only 200. It was about half/three quarters full. It was set on a small projector style screen. The film started out with the end, the "what do you want to know?" portion of the trailer. It continued on to show the different backgrounds of the boys, Luke (Rob Sheehan) and Malachy (Rupert) and the introduction of Michelle (Kimberley Nixon) as "the boss' daughter." Luke coming from a broken background, and Malachy from a loving, normal family. The competition throughout the film is to see who can get to Michelle successfully, and involves a lot of drugs, alcohol, violence, but humor too.
Rupert was top notch in the fact that he pulled off an Irish accent very well, and a completely different character from what we're all used to seeing. The film on the whole was a bit shorter than the average feature film, but as it's an independent film, it worked well and is pretty normal. There was a LOT of swearing, but mostly within context. We both really enjoyed Cherrybomb!
This is also a great time to remind everyone of Cherrybombpetition.com. Be sure to sign the petition for your country or that nearest to you. Remember, this is an ongoing effort and we encourage you to become a fan of the Facebook page as well!

I live in London and there's no sign whatsoever of the film appearing here, and if it's not going to be shown in London, then there's not much hope it'll be shown anywhere else either. It's very hard for small independent UK films to get distribution, and especially when said film contains loads of sex, drugs, and swearing (not that I'm complaining, I'm partial to a bit of all three myself, at least, onscreen), and is thus likely to have quite a small potential audience. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up going straight to DVD, unfortunately.
It's a sad state of affairs that a homegrown film can't get shown for love nor money but imported American toss like Transformers: Rise Of Megan Fox's Stupid Pouty Talentless Face or The Hangover is on every screen in the land.
ooh my god is closer and closer everytime , im from mexico so mi hopes are really down but i live next to mcallen texas so i can go there and buy it if its on dvd or see it if its on theather
hope this comes close to me! is it on DVD? Even if it is, I wanna see it in theaters:) But realistically, it costs money to get it in theaters, so i would settle for DVD:D
HOT!HOT!RUPERT!HOT!
WHEN IS IS BLOODY COMING TO AUSTRALIA.............GRRRRRRRR.....I WANNA SEE IT AS MUCH THE OTHER RUPERT FAN'S IN THE WORLD...AND I CAN"T GET OVER TO AMERICA, I WISH I COULD, BUT I BLOODY CAN"T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seriously doubt that it will be released here in the U.S. which stinks....I'm so over big budget, big name, bad acting blockbusters!! I'd much rather watch a small budget film with exceptional acting. I'm at least hoping it's released on DVD...sooner rather than later. Until then, I'll have to keep myself entertained with the trailer!!!
