What to Expect: The 'Cherrybomb' Soundtrack

It's not often that a film's soundtrack receives as much buzz as the film itself, months before it is even released! Yet this seems to be the case with Cherrybomb and the soundtrack's composer, David Holmes. Holmes, a long time friend of directors Glen Leyburn and Lisa Barros D'Sa, has collaborated with the duo several times beforehand.

But who exactly IS David Holmes, and what makes his music so unique?

Simply put, he is Belfast's "resident musical prodigy" whose career in music has seen him do everything from DJing, composing soundtracks, and putting out solo albums. Unlike some musicians who stick with one sound, Holmes is not afraid to experiment. "I’m into music first and foremost, rather than just one style, so my next record will be completely different again. I can guarantee you that now," he is quoted as telling EQ Magazine. Also, if you've ever seen any of the wildly popular Oceans 11-13 films, the credit for their awesome soundtrack also goes to this man!

So now what to expect for Cherrybomb's soundtrack? In a recent interview, Holmes mentions the likes of the F*ck Buttons and fellow DJ, Andrew Weatherall. The Twin Kranes has also been a name that's popped up in the blogosphere. If the sounds of these musicians and bands are anything to go by, then Cherrybomb's soundtrack is sure to be a must have, and we're as eager as anyone to see how it compliments the film! So sad to hear bout the French actor. Off topic though, I love this site. I think you guys handle it so well. The news are up to date and always only about Rupert's career and tabloid-ish stuff. Very rare for a fansite. Keep up the good work!

It's so sad to hear that, Bonnie! I've seen clips from the original Wild Target, and even though I don't speak French, his acting looked fantastic!

And he was still so young! Only 37!

I know my comment has nothing to do with this piece of news, but did you know that Guillaume Depardieu, who portrayed Rupert's character in the original version of Wild Target, has just passed away?? =(

Hmm... I can only express puzzlement as to the artists on the soundtrack. Probably won't suit my personal taste, but I'll buy it if Rupert's on the cover! :P

Great article, Steph! I cannot wait to hear this soundtrack, because it'll help set the tone for the whole film! Woohoo!
