Deathly Hallows: Part 1 Confirmed for a 3D Release

Warner Brothers has announced this week that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is one of the many films they will release this year in 3D!

After a successful run in IMAX with select scenes in 3D, Deathly Hallows: Part 1 will be played in cinemas nationwide in both 3D and the customary 2D. Viewers can choose which showing they'd prefer!

At the moment, the press release only mentions Part 1, but it's likely Deathly Hallows: Part 2 will also receive the same 3D treatment. Sound off on your 2D vs 3D opinions in our forums!

Personally, I don't think they should make the 7th film into 3D...quit copying Avitar. The other Harry Potter movies weren't in 3D, nor should this one.

With respect, Jill, I expect R&H were self-evident to you because you had already read the books. You only have to pick any random HP forum to find that there are loads of people out there who have only seen the films and thought Harry & Hermione were being set up as a couple until disabused of that notion in HBP.

Also, personally I don't care if the SFX aren't as good in any prospective TV series, what I really care about is seeing the characters from the books accurately represented on screen, and I do not feel they have been so far, or will be in the remaining two films, since the same screenwriter and director are on board.

And Dona, I don't think it's David Yates who treats Ron as basically a comedy idiot, I think it's Steve Kloves, who writes him as such. The only film I would say where Ron is portrayed as smart as he is in the books is OOTP, which happens to have been written by someone else.

Well, the movies are very good but I feel like the director David Yates doesn't really like Rupert. He is making him act as a stupid guy, like both Ron and the actor are silly.I remember that Ron's character and appearance were much better in the Goblet of Fire for example. What I know from the books is that Jk. R's world is fascinating and it couldn't be shown through tv series.Furthermore Ron is much more clever than Yates wants him to be and Harry is not the ablolute hero as the films show. Now,about the 3D,I am not really excited because I find 3D films annoying for the eye so I do not really like them...

Interesting how fans can have such a different opinion on the films. I love the Harry Potter movies and hope they are never re-made. They're great the way they are. I could never imagine anybody else playing Ron, Harry, and Hermione, for example. And Ron and Hermione were always evident to me, and always my favorite thing in the movies.

A TV show would never have the budget or the time to create the majesty of Hogwarts, the fantastic special effects, the incredible costumes and sets. Instead of the big, expansive world the movies have created, it would end up looking cheesy and artificial.

Oh, for God's sake. It's a fad, and by November no-one will care. And frankly, it makes it sound as though WB haven't enough faith in the film they've made and feel they need whizz bang special effects to encourage people to see it. Not promising, not promising at all.

Can we get a petition going to enourage JKR to re-sell the rights to, say, a TV company who will remake the books properly? You know, with the main characters actually IN CHARACTER, and the minor characters (Bill, Sirius, Tonks, Remus) actually THERE. Maybe we'll eventually see a proper version of the Ron and Hermione romance as well, because the Warners film version is about as far removed from the book romance as it's possible to be. Really, six films into the series, R&H should be self-evident, and should not have to be splled out in giant capital letters because the scriptwriters forgot to bother with it until now. "Spearmint toothpaste"... GRRR!
