Rupert and the team here at RupertGrint.net have been partnering for the last few months with a new charity incentive called The Future Project, who work with high-school students across America to build real working projects based on their dreams.
One of these projects held a story which touched us.
Mariely Garcia is a 17 year old student from New York. In her life, she has faced and overcome cancer. Now, she is trying to spread a simple but powerful message across the nation to fellow teenagers: "You are Perfect".
"Growing up, I was taught that we each had something special to offer the world.
The fact that suicide is the third leading cause of death among adolescents, that 6 in 10 girls stop doing what they love because they feel badly about their appearance, and that every 7 minutes a child is bullied didn't make sense to me.
It became obvious that young people were not aware of their inherent perfection...and something had to be done about it. I went to a Future Project event one night and left knowing that somehow I had to change this. But I wasn't sure how. I got home to an empty house and started pacing around until the words "perfectly made" came to mind. Over the last year, I've been working to mould the project into what it really means to me."
So, we asked Rupert for help.
You can join the cause on YouTube by uploading a video of yourself and repeating the message, then titling and tagging it with "I am Perfect: Your Name" and the hashtag #perfrev.
